Chef Bob’s Suite (201)
Chef Bob’s Suite, named after the current owner and lead chef, Bob’s suite is a perfect choice for those looking to enjoy there stay with a little extra space. One of the larger rooms at the Thayer, you will be able to enjoy your stay and sleep comfortably in our king size sleigh bed. The room, with its darker walls and carpet, has a comfortable warm feeling to it!

Julia B’s Room (202)
Named after Julia Barkley, one of the leading voices in the efforts to save the hotel from demolition in the late 70’s she played a key role in putting the building on the National Registry of Historic Places, Julia Barkley’s room could be the perfect room for your visit. The room is light with floral wallpaper and contrasted perfectly with dark brown furnishings.

Mr. Paul’s Room (203)
After the death of Sharon Gammell and the closing of the Thayer in 2012. The building sat empty for several years enduring massive water damage throughout. It was never properly winterized. Many people looked at the building, our family included, but the repairs seemed too daunting, so we, like so many others, walked away. The future of the Thayer looked grim until Paul came to repair much of the damage the building had suffered. It is hard to say if the building would still be empty today if he hadn’t invested in the Thayer. Paul’s Room is a great choice for those looking to stay the evening at the Thayer, with it’s rich purple walls 4-post queen bed, the room has a very spacious and welcoming feel to it.

Honeymoon Suite (204)
Since the remodeling of the Thayer in the early 1980’s, this room has been known as the honeymoon suite. The largest room in the Thayer, this room includes a Jacuzzi right next to massive four post Queen size bed. The light colors of this room and the over-sized furniture makes this a great choice for your visit, even if it isn’t your honeymoon!

Gus’s Room (207)
Named in honor of the original owner of the Thayer, Albert Augustus “Gus” Thayer, Gus’s Room is a cozy little room with rich dark reds and blues and golds. It has a beautiful, yet darker ambiance with the espresso colored furnishings. It's truly a unique room that will leave you with fond memories of your stay.

Colleen’s Retreat (301)
The latest room to open at the Thayer, room 301 is named after one of the current owners, Colleen. One of her favorite rooms at the Thayer, Colleen fell in love with the dark cozy colors of this room, from the rich blues and purples to the charming gold accents. This enchanting room includes a charming 4-poster bed with matching dresser, and flat screen TV.

CRystal’s Haunted Suite (305)
If you are interested in the rumors of the Thayer being haunted, this is the room you will want! According to multiple sources and people, this is the room with the most ghostly activity reported. One of the most spooky of these stories involving the glass French doors to the bathroom shutting very slowly while a terrified couple watched paralyzed only feet away sitting in the Jacuzzi. (If you believe these stories of course).

Miss Lilly’s Room (306)
Miss Lilly’s Room is named for the ghost that is supposedly haunting the stairways at the Thayer. This small little room has a unique purple motif that is almost playful, fitting perfectly with the wrought iron furniture. While not as many reports about haunting have occurred in this room as in 305, much of the staff feels this room is the most intimidating at dark. This is one of those rooms where you will have to judge that for yourself if this is the room you pick for your stay at Thayer.

Miss AMy’s Room (307)
Coincidentally, Miss Amy’s Room bared the same name while Sharon Gammell ran the Thayer as her bed & breakfast. This stunning red room has beautiful antique full size bed complimented with gold furnishings. The room has an old yet elegant look to it that will hopefully leave you with great memories of your stay at the Thayer.

Check-In / Check-Out Policies
Check-In: 4:00 PM to midnight. If you are arriving after midnight, you will need to contact The Thayer to let us know you will need a late check in. Check in at the Restaurant Lobby.
Check-Out: 11:00 AM, please return room keys to employee at restaurant bar.
Cancellation Policy
As a small hotel, cancellations and no-shows can greatly affect business. Please read the cancellation policy carefully. By booking a reservation,you are agreeing to our policies.
1. Cancellations of a single room reservation is allowed up to 2 weeks (14 calendar days) before the reservation date without penalty.
2. Cancellations within 14 days of the reservation date will be charged in full, unless we are able to re-book the room.
3. No-shows are charged in full for the reservation.
4. Early departure requires full payment of the entire reservation, unless we can re-book any portion of the remaining reservation
5. Cancellations of a multi-room or whole-house reservation is allowed up to 30 calendar days before the reservation date without penalty
6. Cancellations of a multi-room or whole-house reservation within 30 calendar days will be charged in full, with a refund issued for any rooms we are able to re-book.7. Extraordinary circumstances & events outside of our control, such as global pandemics, natural disasters, civil riots, or other unforeseen disasters may affect our ability to offer accommodations and/or refunds. In the event we, The Thayer, are forced to cancel your stay in lieu of such events, ALL policies, including refund polices, as well as terms & conditions may be subject to management discretion. In such events, if refunds are not an option, we will work with you to reschedule your stay to a new date.
Terms & Conditions
Prices and Taxes
1. All of our room rates at The Thayer are based on single/double occupancy, each room is perfect for one or two people.
2. Additional hotel guests add $50 per night, however, no cots, cribs, or roll away beds are available.3. Additional children under 12 add $20 per night, however, no cots, cribs, or roll away beds are available.
4. All rates and charges are subject to sales tax.
Payments and Terms at Check-in, Check-out
5. All same day walk-in reservations require full payment at time of booking. Cash, gift certificate, or voucher payments will still require an active credit or debit card to reserve the room.6. All on-line reservations require full payment at time of booking with a valid credit or debit card. Once payment has been processed, you will receive an e-mail confirmation with information for your stay.
7. A copy of a valid government issued photo ID is required at check in.
8. The active credit or debit card may be charged for incidentals that occur during your visit.
9. We do not accept checks
10. Check in begins at 4pm. Please check in with lounge employee at the restaurant bar.
11. If you need assistance with moving luggage up or down stairs at check-in or check out, please let us know.
12. Check out ends at 11am.
13. Please return keys to lounge employee at the restaurant bar. $10 fee per lost room key.
Traveling with Minors
14. Hotel guests must be 18+ unless accompanied by a legal guardian.
Accessibility or Special Needs
15. All guest rooms are on the second and third floors. The Thayer does NOT have an elevator.
16. The Thayer locks it’s doors at 10pm. If you are arriving late, or need to leave the building, you will need to call the building at 320-274-2970 to be let in.
17. 24-hour service is available at the Thayer during your stay.
General Conditions
18. We ask all guests to respect noise levels on the second & third floors from the hours of 11pm-7am.
19. We ask all guests to respect noise levels in the lounge and main dining room from the hours of 2am-6am.20. Please be advised that our rooms are not soundproof, you may hear trains or other noises.
21. Non-hotel guests are not allowed in the hotel rooms after the hours of 11pm.
22. Non-hotel guests are not allowed in the building after the hours of 2am.
23. No burning of candles or open flames are allowed anywhere in the building.
24. No burning of incense or other strong ordered items are allowed anywhere in the building.
25. No scented items that will leave a lingering odor are allowed in the building .
26. No smoking is allowed anywhere in the building.
27. Guests smoking or using strong ordered items in the rooms or building will be charged a minimum $200 fee to return any room to a non-smoking odor free status.
28. No illegal drugs or other illegal substances are allowed anywhere in the building.
29. Guests breaking terms & conditions face possible immediate expulsion based on management discretion from the Thayer without refund.
30. Events outside of our control, such as global pandemics, natural disasters, civil riots, or other unforeseen disasters may effect are ability to offer accommodations or refunds. In the event your stay is effected by one of these events, we will do our best to reschedule your visit to another date.Liability
31. The Thayer is privately owned and operated. Management reserves the right to refuse service to anyone.
32. The Thayer will not be responsible for guests’ accidents or injuries.
33. The Thayer will not be responsible for the safety, security, or loss of money, jewelry, or valuables of any kind.
34. Any damages, stolen items, or broken items occurring during the stay will be the full financial and legal responsibility of the guest, including anyone traveling with the guest, or any person for whom they are responsible. Any special clean-up resulting in damages caused by the guests will be charged to the credit card. Charges may need to be applied after the guest departure as deemed necessary by the Owner/Management.
